Nationals of around 100 countries (including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the EU, CARICOM and Commonwealth states) may enter Grenada without a visa for tourism, family visits or short business trips. Visitors are normally admitted for up to 90 days, with the exact period set by the immigration officer (often tied to the return ticket); extensions are possible at the Immigration Division in St. George's at the officer's discretion. Students from visa-exempt countries enter without a visa and are authorised to remain until the end of term or their return date; students from visa-required countries obtain a visa (processed at a consulate or, for some nationalities, on arrival) before being authorised to stay for the study period. All students must hold or enrol in adequate health insurance (St. George's automatically enrols students in its health and air-evacuation plans). The arrangement covers study, not employment, and does not by itself create a residence path.

Grenada's remote-work visa, introduced under the Remote Employment Act, lets foreign nationals live in Grenada for one year while working for an employer or clients based outside the country; it is renewable for a further year. Applicants must show annual income of at least USD 37,000 (about USD 3,083 per month), a passport valid six months beyond the visa, and valid health insurance. The application fee is USD 1,500 for an individual or USD 2,000 for an applicant plus up to three dependents (USD 200 per extra dependent). Local employment is prohibited and foreign earnings are not taxed locally. Applications are filed on paper, typically through the Grenadian consulate, and processed in about ten business days.

Foreign nationals wishing to live in Grenada beyond the visitor period without taking local employment can apply for a residence permit, demonstrating financial self-sufficiency (typically twelve months of bank statements, employment or business records, or other proof of sustainable income), a clean criminal record and medical clearance. The permit supports an extended lawful stay and, together with physical presence, builds the qualifying residence needed for permanent residence and eventual naturalisation. It does not by itself grant the right to work for a Grenadian employer, which requires a separate work permit. Foreign-language documents must be translated into English and notarised.

In Grenada applications are made through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade & Export Development. The certificate is verified on entry and removes the need for the standard work-permit fees that apply to non-CARICOM nationals. It applies only to CARICOM nationals within recognised categories.
