The 'Don't Just Visit, Live It' programme lets remote workers, freelancers, business owners and students whose income or enrolment comes from outside Saint Lucia stay and work remotely on the island for up to 12 months on a multiple-entry visa. There is no fixed minimum income, but applicants must show enough funds to support themselves and any accompanying family for the stay. Under the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas, Article 46), nationals of participating CARICOM states in approved skill categories - university graduates, teachers, nurses, artisans with a CVQ, media workers, musicians, artistes, sportspersons, holders of associate degrees and others - may live and work in Saint Lucia without a work permit. On entry the person is granted a six-month period to present their CARICOM Skills Certificate to the competent authority for verification, during which work is permitted; once recognised as a Skilled National they may apply for indefinite stay. A foreign national married to a Saint Lucian citizen may settle in Saint Lucia and, after a qualifying period, apply for registration as a citizen by virtue of the marriage. The spouse first regularises stay through a residence permit stating marriage as the purpose, then applies to the relevant authority for citizenship by registration once the statutory marriage and residence conditions are met. Supporting evidence includes the marriage certificate, the citizen spouse's documents, proof of a genuine and subsisting marriage, police clearance and good character.
