Denmark Post-Study Job-Seeking Residence Permit
We can submit this for you
Graduates who completed a Danish professional bachelor, bachelor, master or PhD programme receive an additional residence permit to look for work in Denmark. This is granted automatically alongside the student permit -- either 6 months or up to 3 years depending on the programme -- so no separate fee is charged. During the job-seeking period the holder may work up to 90 hours per month and full-time in June, July and August. The aim is to let graduates find qualified employment and transition to a work permit (Pay Limit, Positive List, etc.). If qualified work is found, the graduate switches to the relevant work-permit scheme, which counts toward permanent residence. The job-seeking permit itself is time-limited and not directly a route to permanent residence, but the preceding study time and subsequent work time do count.

Non-EU/EEA nationals can apply for permanent residence after holding a temporary residence permit and living legally in Denmark for at least 8 years (reduced to 4 years if all four supplementary requirements are met). The applicant must be over 18, still meet the conditions of their current permit, and satisfy a set of basic requirements (no serious criminal record, no overdue public debt, having signed the declaration on integration, passing a Danish language test and demonstrating employment/self-support). On top of the basic requirements, at least two of four supplementary requirements (e.g. higher Danish language level, longer employment, active citizenship, higher income) must be met -- or all four for the 4-year track. Applicants must apply before their current permit expires so residence time is not reset.
