Applications are filed at a Paraguayan consulate or embassy consular section, ideally at least 30 days before travel, and can be started via the VisasEnLinea online form. A stay extension of a further 90 days may be requested from the Direccion General de Migraciones before the original permit expires. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months on entry. This visa does not lead to residence; foreigners wishing to settle apply for temporary/permanent residence at Migraciones.

The non-resident visa also covers short business and technical visits of up to 90 days for nationals who are not visa-exempt; visa-exempt nationals may conduct business activities under the 90-day exemption without a visa. It suits meetings, negotiations, conferences, installation/maintenance work and similar short technical assignments that do not constitute taking up local employment. Applications are made at a Paraguayan consulate (ideally 30+ days before travel) and may be initiated through the MRE VisasEnLinea online form. A 90-day extension can be requested from Migraciones before expiry.
