Former Czech/Czechoslovak citizens and their children and grandchildren (2nd and 3rd generation) who never held citizenship can acquire Czech citizenship by simple declaration under Section 31 of the Citizenship Act No. 186/2013 Coll., as expanded in September 2019; Slovak citizens are excluded. The declaration is filed at a regional authority or Czech embassy with civil-status documents proving descent and how the ancestor lost Czechoslovak citizenship; no residence, language or income requirements apply.
