Vietnam has no digital nomad visa as of June 2026 despite recurring rumors; nomads use the 90-day e-visa or 45-day exemptions. No retirement visa and no working holiday scheme exist either.
Employment route: LD1 for foreigners with a work-permit exemption certificate, LD2 for those holding a work permit. The employer first obtains the work permit (bachelor's degree or 3+ years relevant experience, health check, police clearance; permit valid up to 2 years, renewable once), then sponsors the visa, valid up to 2 years but never longer than the work permit. Holders qualify for an LD temporary residence card of up to 2 years and can sponsor TT dependants; visa stamping fee US$25 single to US$145 for multiple entry up to 2 years.
